The third video in this series The Marriage of Target and Retrieve focuses on teaching your dog the skills it needs to find, pick up, retrieve, and give back to you objects that are dropped or lost. This is a sophisticated group of behaviors but the keys to teaching them follow a familiar pattern in clicker training. Break the skills down into their component parts, put each part on cue, and back chain the teaching.
This is a unique and wonderful program for learning how to clicker train the essential skills that make a good service dog. Each scene includes on-screen script for the hearing impaired and simultaneous narration for the visually impaired. These videos are aimed at people with impairments, perhaps in wheelchairs, who are using a service dog. Barbara Handelman shows you how to turn the service dog into a superb partner and assistant, through your own training.
The program assumes your dog has basic obedience skills
