Common Problems, Solid Solutions Collection
This collection features solid solutions to three common client problems—drama when there is someone at the door, nuisance barking, and being pulled down the street on leash. Featuring three recorded live-stage presentations from Emma Parsons, Irith Bloom, and Laura Monaco Torelli, this collection delivers a lifetime of value for the trainer or the pet owner looking for the effective force-free solutions that top trainers use with their clients.
The collection includes:
- Drama at the Door!, with Emma Parson
Dogs love to run to the door to greet visitors! Some want to launch themselves at the newcomer with an abundance of joy, while others recoil and go into full attack mode. Other dogs might be in conflict: they come forward in order to investigate, but if the person moves or speaks, they back up and burst into a frenzy of barking. Regardless of the reaction you are used to, in this Session you will learn several ways to teach dogs how to greet and relax when new people come to visit. You will also learn how to build an “Emergency” cue and how to teach the dog to go to a certain location when the doorbell rings. Preview this video.
- Quiet Please! Dealing with Excessive Barking, with Irith Bloom
If you live with or near dogs, you’ve probably dealt with barking—and there have been times when you’ve probably wished you could just snap your fingers and make the barking go away. Unfortunately, popular quick-fix solutions rarely work beyond the moment they are used (not to mention, those solutions can create all kinds of fallout). Before you can come up with a plan for reducing barking, you must figure out why it’s happening. In this Session, Irith will discuss several different categories of barking, including alert barking, demand barking, boredom barking, and anxious barking (including aggressive, fearful, and reactive barking). She will also detail a variety of humane, pet-friendly training techniques that can be used to address excessive barking. Attendees will learn how to determine which type of barking is going on, and how to deal with it. If you want to know more about barking, or just want to hear less of it, this Session is for you!
